HETAS

HETAS is the official body recognised by Government to approve biomass and solid fuel heating appliances, fuels and services including the registration of competent installers and servicing businesses.

Visit their website for details of installers local to you, they also have a section with registered local chimney sweeps.

They also offer advice on fuels and each manufacturer’s products. A HETAS registered installer will make sure that your stove is fitted to comply with current building regulations, and more importantly is safe to use. They will issue a certificate which many insurers will want to see. Any guarantees offered on your new stove may be invalidated if your stove is not fitted by a properly qualified installer.
